...cannot even run itself or a democracy
Once again, I must respectfully correct the Scotsman for his repeated visitation into ignorance.
He is not a visitor, he is a permanent resident.

They have got you both fooled.
rjh is not a real person. He is a wind-up doll, equipped with a few cliches, a limited intellect, no insights or humane instincts. We can only guess what its creators have in mind.
Other than those trivial limitations, he's pretty much ordinary.
And he's not from Scotland but from Australia.
All of this leads me to wonder what it has to do with peace in the larger middle east.
Any more off-posting will have repercussions. Do I have to spell that out?
. So I wouldn't be too worried if you don't feel a fit in matter the world is a big oyster beyond here!
it is NOT Russia that creates excuses to invade and destabilise countries as America does time after time.
Whenever I see that thing or a variant of it this pops up in my head:
Du häßlicher Vogel, wirst du einst
Mir in die Hände fallen;
So rupfe ich dir die Federn aus
Und hacke dir ab die Krallen.
Me too!
I wonder what it means.
A quick & ugly translation would be "You ugly bird, if I ever get my hands on you I'll pull out your feathers and cut off your claws". It's from this, and the reference is to the same bird.
@tt92 & Macallan
Collective amnesia?
Are you sure that you are quoting me? Which post was it?
What have you both smoked lately?
Something went haywire with the quoting mechanism.
Don't blame us.
Just curious if anyone here has any advice on places to visit, places to stay, etc.
Anywhere but French speaking areas. Toronto, of course. Montreal, NO! But if you choose to ignore and can't speak French, pretend you're a deaf mute.
One of my French speaking cousins, now deceased, who spoke perfect English and French, took a severe dislike of all things English (American) and refused to speak English any more. He refused to honor my requests for a discussion.
This is from a present day French Canadian about Americans. "Everyone hates them. The americans are IDIOTS! I am quite glad that many don’t own a passport so they can stay way from england and the rest of us. They think they own the world but have no knowledge of it; they are ignorant and have no concept of other cultures!"
Sounds like Rjhowie, eh.
Obviously, though, he doesn't represent the feelings of all French Canadians.
In the event of Scotland's independence, I wonder how their immigration policies will change/if they will change?
Labour of course was/is more lax regarding immigration, while Cameron's bunch have restricted immigration/done away with Erasmus studies for students (thankfully on the latter, I was one of the last in).
Bel, I think Mr, Howie has missed your point.
In this case Mr. Howie simply overlooked the last part of Bel's post.
You're always quick to castigate everything American and show no skepticism toward anything else with the singular exception of Edinburgh. Why is that?

Wow! That's terrible.
Something less catastrophic than the above post but has left some automobile enthusiasts heavy hearted....
Understandable, but this has left me lighthearted!
