You don't need to have wings in order to study the behavior of things that do. Sometimes it can even be better not to have wings because if you do everything about them just seems self-evident. And besides, with respect to social skill most people probably rate on a continuum from quite high to even higher. Like how you can make the difference between 920 and 970 appear gigantic if you choose to let your graph start at 900.

That's not a consensual statement.
For example, I'm tired of seeing people that pretend to be critics of things they never did.
My opinion is that's not possible, you can have a vague idea about it but never a deep knowledge without actually doing it.
I refer to activities, not to just mental processes.
A matter of attitude.

You occasionally put things too well. I end up reluctantly admiring...

True if you operate exclusively with the legal definition of murder.

Otherwise you can legitimately extrapolate from the flies you have killed. Takes a little sense of relativity, imagination, and empathy, but humans can usually pull these things off.

Thank you.
You expressed it better than I was planning to.

There are things that we don't want to know what it is like, simple as that.
You keep on knowing nothing about what killing is like (except indirectly from extrapolations) and would be to you very difficult to pass for a specialist...

Unlike most of us, Allan Poe and Sade - both had some curiosity about such "subject".
Anyway, killing is not exactly a "Social skill", is it? :)
A matter of attitude.

Speaking of social skills, my father never had the social skill to apologize at times when it seemed called for.  The simply words 'I'm sorry' never landed on my ears until my dad was well into his 70s, even the words 'excuse me' were a blue moon rarity.  I don't know what caused this in him, perhaps he thought it was just unmanly to apologize.  As a representative of several US Embassies in foreign countries, my father was always exceedingly polite and a stickler for manners, but he was never sorry for anything.  Entertaining large groups of high ranking officials and VIPs came easy to both my mother and my father, so neither lacked any social skills in that area, it was just that my mom could apologize, but my dad could not or at least, would not.

Is saying I'm sorry just a social nicety or does it have different meanings to different people?

EDIT: I seem to be speaking in the past tense about my dad, but he's very much alive today.

Indeed, her majesty seems quite perturbed by it.

Social skill is a combination of empathy, reading other's body language, basic politeness and other factors. You can't simply reduce it to social science.

if anyone doesnt have knowledge about empathy  , reading other's body language, basic politeness and other factors

how they have that kind of Science ?

Science / Scientia / Knowledge is same .

There you have the formula for happiness Sparta.
Don't let it to impress you, it's not more complicated, or wright, than the ones you create yourself...

And this is what the scientists says...
Scientists says a lot of things. No saying, no funding.

how they have that kind of Science ?

It's not all science. There's soft skills learned from experience and your disposition. If you want hard science, variables such as the levels of various neurotransmitters that affect it as well. There's no one equation for it. For instance, a patient suffering from social anxiety might see a psychiatrist. So the doctor prescribes standard medication, introducing the variable of biochemistry into the equation (many of the medications work by triggering the release or suppression of various neurotransmitters or are synthetic ones.) The trouble is that the medication that helps most people can actually make that patient's condition worse, or even introduce new disorders. Or if the patient doesn't believe in medication, he might see a psychologist instead, There are multiple branches in that field because what helps one patient might not help another.

You see, there's multiple sciences involved. If it's even possible to come up with an equations for social skill, it's even more complex than the one Belfrager offers. I even found the article to be a little simplistic because it dwells on tasks/rewards and experiences and seems to ignore the the biological factors involved in happiness and social skills that I briefly touched on.

I like that concept of formula eco-system.
Be very cautious when releasing a formula into the wild, it can overcome indigenous formulas and turn into a predatory nightmare.
It happened before, remember the E=MC2 disaster?
