Shocking incident at an military armaments storage unit

The BBC has reported that a Portuguese military weapons store base has been seriously raided and equipment and stolen. The country's President has stated that this will be very promptly investigated and he wondered if anyone else in NATO has had this.

That was fairly common in Norway and Sweden in the good old days of the Soviet Union. In preparation for a Soviet invasion there were arms caches everywhere, and the army were strong believers in security through obscurity (cheaper that way). Some former conscripts were having a blast, and more seriously the arms fuelled the Great Nordic Biker War. The Soviet Union is gone, so are most of those caches, the remaining are a little better guarded.

The arms these days seem to come mainly from fire sales from the wars in the former Yugoslavia. There's a huge supply there.
