Maybe one day but not now. Otter keeps a pretty good ppa anyways.

Let's not overburden the authors.

Nothing. There are a lot of distros using deb-packages, but currently only one using snap. Snaps are supposed to bring their own dependencies, so downloaded packages get much bigger and systems get bloated.
Don't waste time on this at this stage, there's no advantage for users. Make Otter a working browser with mail client. That's what's important.

@bluedragon77, I've recently prepared script to mostly automate creation of PPA packages, so I would like to stick with them. ;-)
But some additional portable format would be great, but so far Appimage appears to the best choice.

Aha. Since you are working on that, perhaps you could add a postinst script to the debian packages which would add the ppas automagically whenever a user installs otter. Depending on which package he installed the package would either add the weekl or beta ppa.
