@Frenzie    The FIRST & the SECOND showed an image, & when the play is pressed they play the video. […] The THIRD & the FOURTH showed no image at all (Blue Box), & when the page stopped loading both came up as TIMED OUT. When loading if I right click, I get my Browser context menu, as opposed to an Adobe Flash Player Context Menu. When hovered I see nothing...no youtube URL.     :rip:
That means I know what's happening, but I don't know why. You should presumably also get a timeout if you simply browse to http://youtube.com (as opposed to http://www.youtube.com). Normally youtube.com would just silently redirect to www.youtube.com, but it seems that in your case for some reason it does not. I'd suspect an extension like adblock or noscript, except obviously it's happening in all browsers.

BTW: The "Jump to" menu doesn't:(
Do you have JavaScript enabled?

@Frenzie    It's not a Extension (addon). I've used 2 browsers to prove this.....Pale Moon v36 (which BTW no longer uses Gecko), &  Firefox v45.

Ive installed them both fresh, & in their full version,  which  I  don't normally use....I always use portable versions if possible for personal & security reasons.

Now, both are pristine, with absolutely no addons (extensions).

When I type in http://youtube.com & enter after about 15 seconds or so I get a timeout....on both....& when I type in & enter http://www.youtube.com it instantaneously opens the youtube website on both.  I've even gone so far as shutting down my firewall completely, & my test results were exactly the same.

I don't know if these tests prove anything new for you, but if it's ok with you, I'd appreciate using the Video Tag for posting videos, as it works perfectly.

I don't know if this causes you any undo security risks, & if it does, well what needs to be done is, as always, remains completely your decision, but if it doesn't cause undo risk, I'd sincerely hope you'd keep the status quo regarding the Video Tag.

Thanks again, for all your efforts & time in our behalf.....

Well, I really liked those crocuses, which is why I photographed them. I guess you're not one for the Keukenhof.[1]

Yup. To infinity and beyond!  :alien:

Yup, they confirm what I already deduced.  This is truly odd though. Note that I already fixed the problem upstream, although not on this site at this time.

I'd sincerely hope you'd keep the status quo regarding the Video Tag.
It won't be going anywhere for now.
The picture is from my parents' garden, not the Keukenhof. Just to prevent any possible confusion. :P

Footnotes feature

It looks like a nice thing to be able to do footnotes in posts, but this interferes with quoting (full quote, not quick quote). Footnotes always appear at the bottom of the post and they look like the last poster's text even when they are quoted from someone else. I have been thinking how to make quoted footnotes really look like quoted and came up with these (mutually exclusive) options.

- Include the quoted footnote at the bottom of the quoted text, not at the bottom of the post. I.e. when between the quote tags, display it just before /quote
- Display the footnote exactly where it appears, but change the tags to small or size=1 instead of footnote when someone makes a full quote.
- Include the footnote at the bottom as it is now, but style it like all other quotes, including the "Quote from:" line.

Those are good suggestions. I'll have a look at it next week.

A note on the Print button

Print button displays the entire thread. Which is good.

There are two display options: Text only and Text with images. This is good too.

However, in graphical browsers, even the Text only option displays embedded videos, while otherwise images are not displayed.

Can videos be hidden in Text only option?

(Edit: Fixed some stoopid English.)

Specifically, it's the [video] BBC that isn't disabled. I've added it to my to-do list.
