And about damn time the police were got rid of - several million pound spent in a hope he could be got to keep the USA happy with the Swedes passing him on to them. There is no way he will leave the embassy as the Metropolitan police will still be watching in a roundabout fashion for goodness sake.

How would he get out of the country anyway? Are they tacitly admitting that all of the security theater at airports is useless and wouldn't stop him if he wanted to leave?

From a purely UK perspective, I'd be happy if he went somewhere. ---- Anywhere actually.
