FireFox plug-ins

Whea.. I had a trouble with Java and eventually got onto my Ff 3.6.6.
So, "verifying Java", a prompt emerged and I got to "outdated plugins". There were three of them, two of which at least mentioned Firefox as their... How to say?
And also there was one named "Shockwave for Director", which didn't mention Ff but some Netscape or something instead...
Well, people, how to establish relevance to the browser? Or does the Ff browser always know better what's needed while myself should better shut up and load what's said??? ???

It probably knows better than you what's outdated. Frankly I'd probably just disable or uninstall the Java plugin unless I needed it for something specific. There's quite a lot of security holes in that one, apparently.

There is some "unless".
And Chrome, eg, or something within it or connected to something within it (IDK), gets to block content prolly 'estimated' by Java or IDK as dangerous. It happened just today here (must be it). Twice: when something said my Java was outdated - and after I updated it and restarted Chrome.
