If you have it with fries, that should be enough vegetables for your daily quota. ;)
 Yeah I agree

Come to think of it, I haven't had any fries in months. If I eat more fries maybe that'll help me gain some weight.

Follow them up with some cream cakes and fizzy pop, that should make you gain weight. I wouldn't recommend it though.

Cream cakes sounds appetizing, wouldn't hurt if I eat those once a week. :D

I'm sure one a week as a treat won't hurt you. You can always go to the gym to burn of the calories if need be.

And I already have 4 sets of dumbells and a workout bench at home so I don't have to spend any more money going to the gym

That makes sense to me, as I've never really understood the need to pay a gym membership fee. When exercising is an activity that is  freely available in the home or outdoors. I guess some folk think it helps to motivate them perhaps.

I'm the wrong person to know really, as I've never been near a gym since the day I left school.  :D

I think most gym things are just plain stupid, by which I mean they might improve you aesthetically but they don't actually do much of use for you because they isolate muscles. Besides something like a high-quality rowing machine (rowing on the water is much more fun but what are you going to do I guess…) there's preciously little of interest to me in a place like that.

I see the main problem of average gym-oriented people as thinking stuff like push-ups and "squats" (weird English word to me) are easy because, well, your basic push-up is easy. Doing a bunch is just boring, and (oh the horror) it also wouldn't really build visual muscle. Do the stuff with one arm, one leg, and some other variations like handstand pushup and that's enough for me. I wonder how your average big arms no legs type would fare… :P

I'm inclined to think adding a weighted vest to the basic so-called bodyweight principle would on the whole still be far more interesting than any gym machine.

I like swinging a couple of 6 kg clubbells (aka just clubs or Indian clubs) for grip and variety.[1] They're a semi-forgotten thing that used to be big a century ago but I love 'em. It's similar to kettlebells in principle but I think they're more challenging and much more fun.

/my two cents

(Also, even the cheapest gyms are like €15/month. I think I'd rather spend that money on eggs or a heavier pair of clubbells or something.)
6 kg sounds like nothing if you're thinking dumbbells and not much even if you're thinking kettlebells, but for clubbells it's a decent enough weight imo. ;)

I bought my sets of dumbells and workout bench 5 years ago and it cost me $200. The average gym here costs &50/month. If I had spent money going to the gym each month for the last 5 years it would've cost me $3000. Nothing spectacular about going to a gym, except for a more variety of workout machines. Even those females at the gym in their workout t-shirts & shorts look muscular :yikes:

We used to have them in the school gym, never saw anyone using them. Not for their intended purpose anyway.  ;)

That's not a good look. It's great to be fit and healthy, but some folk take it too far.

I think something like clubbells or kettlebells are much much much more fun if you're willing to give 'em a go. ;)

Some decent-looking search results that share my philosophy:

https://www.marksdailyapple.com/kettlebellin-for-strength/
(more mainstream; easier so imo more dangerous and less versatile)

https://www.marksdailyapple.com/clubbells/
(my fave, like I said)

Or both. :P

I haven't tried either one, but they don't look appealing to me. I can't imagine seeing myself with kettlebells, so I'm happy using dumbells :D

We've just been informed that the town is likely to be cut off as the roads are all closed, nothing getting in or out.
Had a similar situation here a month ago. Roads completely covered with snow. Metro transit announced buses will stop running, but didn't give an exact time. I was able to catch my 1st bus home from work. While I was waiting for my 2nd bus that was supposed to run every 10 min, a few people at the bus stop said they've been waiting for the bus for 45 min. One guy said he's been waiting for the bus for over an hour. I figured the buses had stopped running so I decided to walk home through the blizzard.

It's still snowing and we are cut off. Anyone got a helicopter so that we can get some supplies in?

Are you getting cut off from food/grocery supplies? :eyes:

A lot of the shops are closed because the staff can't get there. Not that it matters as the customers can't get there either, except for the odd hardy soul who is determined to brave the elements and get there. No bread or milk available apparently, which is hardly a surprise as the roads into the town are still closed.

Not too worried though as we have enough stuff in our freezer and cupboards to keep us going. Situation may change to panic if I run out of  :coffee: though.

Hopefully not.  ;)

A snowplough has just passed my window, that has to be a good sign that they have the road into town cleared. Yay!

Two decades is a long time, don't be too disheartened if you find that you're Yo-yo mastery is now a bit stale.  :P

True. Except it wasn't lost, it was a neighbours cat who quite often followed our cat into the house.
That cat must `ve liked your house that much. :P

There was a program (on the BBC maybe?) about cats where one cat would just go sleep with some neighbor guy every day.
