Could've been worse if you couldn't  get coffee anywhere all day  :sherlock:
If I had to go without my coffee then I would have said no new kitchen. Some things just aren't worth it.  :D

Kinda' hard to listen any music when the fireworks was on the football field across the street from my house  :D

I would have thought that was the best time for some music. Played nice and loud so you could drown out the noise of the fireworks.  ;)

I haven't thought of that. :) Nope, not when the fireworks was so close I could feel the floor shaking :sherlock:

Quite annoying if that was the case. What were the fireworks for, were they celebrating winning a trophy or something?

It's the College beginning of the season for football and hockey tournaments. The football team is top 5 in the United States college football, and the hockey team always reach the Finals. So yeah, it's bigger than New Year celebration here around campus :eyes:

You would have thought that the end of the season would be a more appropriate time for fireworks, especially if they had a great season.

Yup, agreed. And the football team beat Oregon State that opening season night, which was an upset win. So I guess that resulted with more fireworks :D

The last time I checked all fireworks here in Minnesota were imported from China. Yah, I'm sure they love all the fireworks orders :D Didn't China invented fireworks over a thousand years ago? :sherlock:

@Luxor,  so what video game did you recently buy?

Vektor Wars. An old school type of game, all vector graphics much like the days of yore on Commodore 64 and Amiga games.
Pure shoot-em-up, but a lot of fun if you have half an hour to kill.  :D

Sometimes it's the game that really counts and not the graphics :D Despite all the stunning 3D animation games that I have, I play mostly Star Traders or Harbinger with simple 2D graphics.  :)

Ain't that the truth.   No matter how stunning the visuals, a bad game is a bad game.
Some of the best games I have ever played had the most basic graphics, but the gameplay was so good you could quite easily overlook that.

Your wife play video games on her cellphone.

My wife doesn't play computer games at all, no matter what format they are on.

Back in the days when I first owned a ZX Spectrum she enjoyed a couple of plays on  Pac-man but her interest didn't remain for long. She also enjoyed a game called Viking Raiders again on the ZX Spectrum and would always insist I put it on if we had visitors as it was a multiplayer game . I think drunk Vikings appealed to her sense of humour.  :D

I've never played Viking Raiders but turn-based strategy games are my fav  I rather not play multiplayer turn-based strategy game though because it'll take twice as long. I've never played Pac-man on a computer, only at a Video Arcade :D

Viking Raiders didn't take long to play even in a 4 player game, I think that was part of it's appeal. You could quite easily play a game in less than an hour as the maps weren't very big, I just found a video of it on YouTube.  :D

True.  Galaxian too.  :D

I was never good at Galaxian :D But I was pretty good at Super Pac-man and Donkey Kong :)

Don't let the stunning graphics put you off.

My local pub had a tabletop version of it, I dread to think how much money I put into it over the years.

Pac-man I was fairly good at, Donkey Kong not so much. Bloody barrels.

Oh yeah, tabletop version is the best  Donkey Kong is one of the hardest game I've ever played. Then I found a tabletop version at the University cafeteria :D
Yup, video games at the Arcade became more and more expensive and I gradually stop playing. But I think I spent more on computer games :D

Yep! It gave me somewhere to put my beer.

Donkey Kong is one of the hardest game I've ever played.
It took pixel perfect jumping to avoid those barrels, something that I could barely master for some reason. I found it very frustrating when I ever played it. I would probably have fared better if I'd controlled it with my feet and not my hands.   :(

I never owned a Super Nintendo so I'm not 100% sure. It was developed by Nintendo though so I would guess it is one and the same. Not to be confused with Donkey Kong Country or any of the later games though.

Yes the game that introduced Mario to the world and has filled the coffers of Nintendo shareholders ever since.
