I don't get down this way much, but this was something I found elsewhere (Voat.com) that I think needs exposure and this seems to be the place for it.
Facebook is getting ready to eliminate Flash once and for all. Firefox, which I use on occasion, has already done so. All versions of Flash are banned from Firefox because of security issues that Adobe still hasn't addressed even in the latest versions. Among other things, Flash is vulnerable to ransomware attacks. My landlord has experienced this so I know what it looks like--- you open your machine, all ready for another session of DnD, FB, Worpress or whatever-- and instead you see a screen telling you that the FBI knows all about the kiddie porn on your machine and they're coming to get you--- but if you pay a fee-- the "ransom"-- the problem will go away. Fun, ain't it?

A website that I need to use for work doesn't let me play its flash videos with Flash Player 11 (latest Linux version), saying that my plugin has known security issues. Flash Player 10 works though...

AFAIK Adobe released 18.0.0.209 which isn't blocked.
It's a process that has taken about a decade, and seems to be nearing the end game now. Adobe bought Macromedia largely for Flash about the same time that it was muscled out of mobile devices, and Flash everywhere as a strategy died. If Flash can't be everywhere it will eventually be nowhere.
A quick search on the web brought up a possible alternative https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/watch-with-mpv/

It only works on sites it's been coded to work for. But anything I regularly watch is supported or can be fairly easily added (https://github.com/rg3/youtube-dl/pull/6074). (I contributed this tiny thing (https://github.com/rg3/youtube-dl/pull/4878) myself.)
For YouTube, however, I use a special alias in my .bashrc:

Cryptocurrency scammers have gotten extra creative and are now hiding mining malware in legitimate updates of Adobe Flash Player.
Nothing new. Google Chrome propagated itself the same way.
(The news part is that there are still updates to Adobe Flash.)
Many users may be unaware their CPU is now running at full tilt, mining cryptocurrency for someone else.
I'm pretty sure you're going to notice "full tilt" in performance and/or noise. My gut feeling says that up to about 50% is much less likely to be noticed.
