Otter Browser Forum / Downloads tab not opening automatically?
I've noticed in recent weeklies that the Downloads tab no longer seems to open automatically when a download is started.
Was that behaviour changed? I thought that was rather useful.
I can't find any setting to change the behaviour, which there was in Opera 12 IIRC.
Cheers, Dave.

Otter Browser Forum / Re: Spell Checker
I've now found and added an en_GB dictionary, and made that the default in about:config.
It correctly appears ticked as the in-use choice when I look in the "Dictionaries" right click menu.
It's still crashing every time I right click in a text box however. I have Norton Crashguard installed, which allows me to revive it, and I can then enter text into the box, as I am doing now, but every single word is marked as being mis-spelled!

Otter Browser Forum / Re: Spell Checker
Thanks, I have made some progress since my last message!
I found a us-EN dictionary, which consists of a en-US.aff file and a en-US.dic file.
I put them both into the otter\profile\dictionaries folder, and they are being recognised.
I now have an entry "American English (United States) [US]" entry on the menu.
Unfortunately as soon as I try to use it, I get a crash in ibstdc++-6.dll reported.
Is this a Windows XP problem perhaps? I hope not.

Ah, thank you!
Sorry for the delay in responding, I didn't get an e-mail notification of your reply for some reason.
From what you're saying, I've got to install hunspell separately. I was assuming that it came with the browser!

Hunspell.exe isn't anywhere on my system anyway, so I will have to find it.
Cheers, Dave.

Otter Browser Forum / Spell Checker
Can anyone tell me how the spellcheck on Otter is supposed to work?
I'm using the latest weeklies.
I gather that you're supposed to use hunspell compatible didtionaries, but I have none installed at the moment.
Right clicking on a text input box shows nothing under the "Dictionaries" entry on the popup menu.
I've tried finding dictionaries, and putting them into a "dictionaries" folder within my Otter profile folder, but still nothing.
There seem to be several formats of hunspell dictionaries available though, which type does the implementation in Otter need?
Thanks, Dave.

Otter Browser Forum / Re: Otter Browser - Good to know you...
I noticed that the spell checker isn't working too, but there again, I haven't installed any dictionaries!
I gather you're supposed to put hunspell dictionaries into a "dictionaries" subfolder in the profile folder.
Is that right?
I've searched but I can't find any dictionary files that actually seem to be recognised, the "Dictionaries" option on the right click menu in text input boxes doesn't show anything.
Where can I find a compatible UK English dictionary file?

Otter Browser Forum / Re: Spurious Windows sound plays when using the mouse navigation buttons
Thanks Emdek, well that's very strange then!
As I said, Otter has always done this on my machine, and I kept thinking that one day the issue would just go away, but if there's no obvious cause for it it's obviously not something that can be just "fixed"!
I'm not sure under what circumstances the Windows "Exclamation" sound is played anyway.
I will have to investigate that to see if there is anything related to Otter that would be likely to trigger it.
I have many other browsers installed, IE, Firefox, Opera 12 and Opera 36, even the last Safari for Windows (!) and none of them do this.

Otter Browser Forum / Spurious Windows sound plays when using the mouse navigation buttons
Something I've been meaning to ask about for ages.
When using Otter, every time I press the "Back" or "Forward" buttons on my mouse, Windows plays the "Exclamation" sound.
This does not happen with any other browser.
It doesn't happen if I use the UI buttons. The mouse buttons do what they should do, but why should they play a sound?
Any idea why that would be happening, as it is a bit annoying?!
I can't see any relevant settings.
I'm using the latest weekly #208, but the issue has always been there with Otter for as long as I can remember.
Thanks, Dave.

Otter Browser Forum / Re: Transfers Window
Ah, sorry, I must have been mistaken about the way you left it being remembered.
I was just so delighted that you can finally re-size the columns properly!

Can I just say thank you for finally fixing the display of the Transfers Window.
Finally you can re-size the columns properly, and it's remembered!

Otter Browser Forum / Start Page Tiles
Just updated from weekly 191 to 193 (I missed out 192!) and I've noticed that the start page tiles seems to have changed.
The labels now seem to crop the bottom of the thumbnail off.
Has that changed or am I imagining things?

Otter Browser Forum / Re: Otter and Windows XP
Yes, since I've had to use the ZIP package I just unzip the files and then cut and paste them over to the Otter folder, where they overwrite any existing versions with the same name of course. I guess the files in the "Lib" folder that I copied from the XP SP2 package aren't being replaced as they don't exist at all in the new packages. That's good of course!

Otter Browser Forum / Re: Otter and Windows XP
Thanks Emdek, that worked!

The videos are now playing using HTML5 on the normal YouTube pages.
Will I have to do that substitution every time I update the weekly?
Cheers, Dave.

Changing that setting removes the error message and the HTML5 video controls, leaving just a black rectangle.
I tried https://www.youtube.com/v/NNY73_YcZVY again, and this time it worked. It didn't play automatically, but on clicking the (huge) white play arrow symbol, the video did play in full screen, using the Flash Player.
Not ideal though, it needs to work on the normal YouTube pages with the normal links!

Otter Browser Forum / Re: Otter and Windows XP
YouTube is not working on Windows XP now at all, even with Weekly #187.
I'm just getting a message that the browser doesn't recognise any of the video formats available.
It's no longer falling back to the Flash Player either.
