Forum Administration / Re: Costs
Maybe Advertisements could be relegated to its own closed forum section, if a commercially attractive way of doing that could be found. I don’t know, perhaps some of you have ideas.

Other forums I visit post an ad just under the OP sometimes even just as a post. That's not anymore annoying than skipping a post you don't wanna read.

If it becomes necessary, tho, I'll donate too to help prevent ads here.

I've never heard of a lifetime warranty on hardware?

Replacement of the main board would exceed the cost of a newer machine. So just make sure that's the problem... And that's why that doesn't make sense.

DnD Central / Re: Maps-Maps-Maps! ?

If you're not aware of it, check http://www.openstreetmap.org/

The map data for The Netherlands and Belgium is top notch because it was seeded by experts. In the US it's often lesser. But what's missing on OSM.

I have seen it in the market but didn't realize what it was. Figured it for another redress of google nav. Interesting...

I've missed those other features too. Thought I was the last nut with an atlas.

There's only so many sources for international map data. Three off top Nokia, Google (American) and TomTom (Europe). Most places will pool data from those map sets. In fact Google used to buy data from both others. Tho from the company Nokia bought, not directly. They may still use TomTom's data in Europe,  idk. So most maps are indeed the same data set.

DnD Central / Re: Internet Connection (St.poll #3)
A data cap on home Internet is retarded.  Mine is 30gb total divided between after hours and peak. So 15gb peak per month.  Wtf? I use more than that on my mobile. I usually reach my cap by day two.

Side note: There are websites that download flash games from about any site. I've done it before because my son likes some flash games and the ads on those sites are usually adult sites I don't want him linked to and blocking page content sometimes blocks the game. It has the added advantage of him not using data too.

DnD Central / Re: Celebrity Is FXXXXXG Nauseating
I'm bad for blocking a lot of google content. Don't have any experience with anything else mentioned in the OP and don't watch enough television to be annoyed. Opera's Discover page is easy to ignore because of such stuff tho. I still like to read the Sunday paper tbh. It's not unbias but more relevant than most sources and without so much sensationalism and breaking news bs like with tv. Now that is annoying. Breaking news should be for an emergency.  Something people need to know quickly for safety reasons. But usually goes like, "Breaking News! There's a structure fire off Charlotte pike, fire rescue is on the scene... And find out why eating fruit may put you at risk for <blank> coming up at 10."

Or in other words rubber-neckers have about 15mins to get across town before the blaze is out and find out you can even eat too much health food at 10. O'noes!

Yay! My pick is winning at the moment.  :-)

Tough call between A and E for me. Something with a roof does seem appropriate.

You're not going past XP on those specs. Any light weight linux disro will make for a nice quick net machine. You can surf the net off the liveCD. IIRC you can mount c: and save data too. Best bet is to dual boot. I would put a vanilla copy of XP and strip it bare with your pick linux distribution beside it. Default grub to linux and use XP for whatever compatible software you wanna keep. I'd also look into a ram upgrade. I just doubled a friends netbook with similar specs to 2gb for $33usd. It's running Vista beside whichever Xubuntu or Ubuntu-ish distro I put on it.

DnD Central / Re: This is a testing forum
Sry, the little smartass inside me must of typed that.

On an actual problem:

The first one is similar to the one I posted, while the second one is just a video file link which comes up as a new tab here, & as a "Save As" Download request.

I got this using the quick quote from just selecting the word 'posted' with Opera M.
