i'm back as when i come across bugged versions i leave otter, and even thought it will die as it was so bad, this was few versions ago,,,
but now i'm stunned how snappy it is, and finally OH FINNALY some things fixed i'm here emdek to check in few obvious annoying bugs/things
1. click to play plugin is broken, at least on win32 (windows 7), simply doesn't work
2. for gawd sake... multiselect on open dialog for UPLOAD, STILL doesn't work (try imagebam.com as example for images)
3. tab nesting is becoming problem, if you open 30-40 tabs it simply becomes messy, not only X becomes centered so when you click on this small squared tab you close it -_-
3.1 tabs to get arrows on the right, but UI bug is this OVERLAPING:
3.2 when arrows do appear and you click on RIGHT arrow to push tabs to left, the second you move mouse cursor of the arrow/button, tabs will push back to right, and your last active tab will be focus
3.3 tab seen/unseen, would be nice to have some sort indication to see which tabs are "new open and unseen", practically like old opera has...
other than this, I am amaized how well Otter now performs off the arrow, tabs will push back to
oh boy oh boy havent used otter quite some time hoping OLD things get fixed... but it just getting worst...
win7 32bit again multi file select (test it on imagebam.com) does not work, this is like ancient bug never fixed - youtube, another ancient bug never fixed now with added bug, often it shows only 30% lower part of video everything else is black full screen is disabled even on "HD" quality O_o - also there is nowhere option to choose between using flash and html5 video which is annoying... - when page is loading clicking on STOP, doesn't stop loading page at all - and bug with saving images:
which not only it opens automatically even if SAVE is chosen but it doesn't open with default registered app but with system component....
i must say after some time of being away on purpose i hoped that otter will finally "settle down"
yesterday downloading newest build, all i got is even more broken build that was 2 months ago
these are fast observations: - again multi file select aint working - mouse buttons completely broken and un-editable in options - if image filename is too long otter can't save it with proper name but adds DOT "." after certain char lenghth - back button very broken - when alot of tabs oppened, the X button wanishes, so unless user knows ctrl+w, you're screwed
I don't want to be rude or ungrateful I really wish Otter high hopes and only use it where Opera 11 fails but for many answers you say "its a known bug, nothing new"
well if its known and nothing new, why not fix it ? I know you fixed for example multi upload in one build and then again later all were broken ... kinda looks to me that you use something already broken as "base" instead latest "fixed"
1. red scrollbar 2. editing default keyboard settings have no impact on browser 3. engine is SLOW in loading web content 4. going with mouse over random web-elements show random errors, like dissapearing of images or half broken images, or overlaping elements
heres example (my user name is sprayed out, everything else is REAL)
seems to me this new layout-engine is totally broken I'm gonna revert to #78 till this gets fixed
so is QTWebEngine WebKit, Blink, or something 3rd ?, their site only says porting of chromium to QT
whilst you said in another thread like already written above, that QTWebKit is DEAD and QTBlink unstable and now after all this, what the hell is QTwebengine at the end ?
it happens only when I open Otter for 1st time, not when i do new tab (no matter how many times per day i open it, its always when "ran") it fails to make thumbnails and loads them and does nothing then
ah debate can go on and on to me its all plugins, a set of code that processes its own BS the fact that HTML5 video (onVP H264 compressed variant) is better than flash is debatable
first because most sites especially Youtube still didn't convert all "HD" videos to HTML5 mostly switching to HTML5 you'll end up on 320p or if lucky 480p video
flash is also dominant because of its scripting, tho many pages abused it and people frown now about it
in any case if a browser can SANDBOX any plugin, then there is no problem in either way, Java claims to have its own sandbox, but its a lie Flash at least on Opera 11 is sandboxed, if plugin crashes, it gets error within its own frame SIlverlight... dunno who sane uses that crap but whatever lol
(For example Vivaldi is the chromium based, Vivaldi is a Qt based (With possible multiple browser engines support) ). And we shoudn't start any kind of war between fans of different browsers. i think it is better to have two (or more) similar and very good browsers than don't have anything at all. So let's make software not war :-) .
1. err WHAT ? 2. their goals are not the same at all, vivaldi goes for modern kids, otter goes for what opera was 3. vivaldi uses shit resource hungry foundation, otter does not
ahhh yes, zoom causes problems on default flash works
but still its a bug ,,, theres another bug when you remove bottom bar and then enter any site, you can see STATUS bar appearing at the top for 1 second (below address and button bars)
- flash controls are now broken totally - multi file upload still not working - the status bar removal now FIXES progress bar staying - custom buttons zoom in/out still don't work
where do I download this test build you mention of ?
well I'm back, with your newest compile so lets begin
1. AGAIN multi file upload does NOT work (imagebam) 2. flash controls are fubar, sometime work, but mostly not, and if you go to youtube page you can't even reload the page or go back to previous (this is very freaky) 3. I LOVE customization of toolbars and others, BUT for instance i gave zoom in and zoom out buttons next search control (button bar), they don't work at all, nothing happens 4. with this large customization the bottom bar is useless, but if you disable it you lose the loading bar of website and other info
