now, i won't call this a Otter bug, but rather maybe how Otter handles JS
/spoiler ahead, "illegal" site in question
so the famous torrent site in this case, not for advertising purpose but check what it does, they have imposed advert popup everytime you click on a link then it counts down to what ? ... maybe 10 seconds, to "acknowledge" you clicked on it and now you can click on any movie title... (during those 10 seconds)
then they re-enable this annoying advert re-direct again -----
since im primary using Waterfox which is Gecko 52 based, this isn't issue as browser just makes a pop-up window, and you can close it BUT Otter on other hand for some reason constantly reloads this ad-redirect link thus freezes both primary and secondary tab/window, and your only choise is to force kill app again, i write this not to complain on Otter, but rather that Emdek and who-ever also does the coding checks what the F is going on there,
mmm dunno for other platforms, but on windows, Otter is quite glitchy, and freezes alot for minor reasons until stability becomes 99%, to me Otter is not "prime time" yet
you constantly repeat "on updated OS" this just leads to constant tracking what MS and Apple fucked up on their side which is not Emdeks job or anyone elses...
who ever makes Webkit port to QT, its theirs responsibility for max compatibility
since I dunno when will 185 come out, ill put what 184 has ...
first off, I'm very happy how Otter progresses (every few months)
Bugs: - Win7 x64 // x64 Otter build 1. ANY download/transfer, when comes to 99.9% CRASHES - ALWAYS 2. Transfer window/tab, CANT resize 1st column while other ones can 3. while opening magnet link, there is no association (doesn't read system values) 4. unable to save ANY site with its contents (css, js), but just plain/alone xHTML 5. most HTML-5 codecs are missing (check html5.com)
Missing: 1. would be nice to have a button that would add page/tab to speed dial (just like you can bookmark a page) 2. some internal crash log generator, as apparently Otter chooses to crash without any crash log or error or even system error for Event Viewer 3. right click on tab for: close tabs to left/right 4. when image is in web site, right click to open image in current tab
err simply put it in preferences dialog just like "content" of fonts and page look is stiffed there... you can simply add 1 dropdown list with "icon style" and link it to either cfg or ini file to read entries from //path/to/icons
some years later, if any skinning will exist, you can just expand upon that...
but problem is they are so random, it cannot be reproduced ...
- now when i ran Otter (for 1st time), entered to test your bookmark theory, yahoo.com the bookmark button was disabled completely even if page was loaded then it got enabled only when I pressed New Tab button
- also bookmark "deletion" didn't crash anything, could well possibly be tied to webpage type ?
- then to reproduce reload bug, now it worked ok... on same pages that didn't work before and suddenly Otter crashed for no reason (i'll write the log down)
- then to reproduce zoom bug, a) it resets it self when using wheel click for "open in new tab"
b) at the same time zoom slider/zooming is doing its work as does tab switching if you hold right click and use wheel up/down, so you have 2 "jobs" working at same time, this could be another conflict ... who knows
- the yahoo images problem, is "fixed" if user does refresh on page, then the image appears
------- as for your proposal, I can only do random testing of Otter I know nothing about any coding ...

not start page, but already bookmarked page doesn't matter if its done via right click or via button DEL
no sorry its random for zoom
also masking as chrome doesn't help for yahoo images
also there is a bug when you STOP loading a page then hit RELOAD button, nothing happens
btw, is it possible for you to add a "object/control" that like in opera would show the value of current zoom level ? so it can be attached on toolbars ?
on x64 (win 7), when removing a bookmark from the list of saved ones, Otter simply freezes and has to be forcefully killed bookmark doesn't get removed
also, often otter doesn't apply "set zoom" from preferences, as in I put it on 126%, but randomly when new tab button is pressed, or when toolbar buttons are added/removed (customization) the zoom level goes back to 100%
also if you go to yahoo images and choose any from gallery, for some reason Otter doesn't show preview in "slide mode" (when chosen), tho this could be more of javascript or qtweb related
v140 win7 x64, youtube lags like hell on html5 video, even on worst 240p page zoom setting doesn't apply on newly opened tabs, one has to drag slider manually
another bug i'd like to add is - HOW THE F do I enable flash for youtube ? as it always forces HTML5 video and chews 80% of my dualcore cpu
also html5 is broken on webkit version of otter, only ~15% of screen is visible and on "HD" option it cannot be fullscreened
another annoyance is when downloading anything, browser should PAUSE before user accepts download but it doesn't, it auto downloads files, hello viruses !
another annoyance, whatever zoom you give for web pages same zoom applies to source code editor - hello terrible view !
what is the difference between -weekly-xxx-qtwebengine and just -weekly-xxx ? do these 2 use different engine (webkit vs blink) and which one is ... better ?
