The Lounge / Re: What have you just eaten or drunk?
Grilled lamb chop, grilled tomatoes with basil, scrambled eggs on pumpkin-seed toast.
Cappuccino coffee with the crossword.
After that the rest of the day is downhill.

DnD Central / Re: Tripe about Ukraine

A shooting glove! It's that a sort of fashion accessory? Like the telescopic sights?

I really must get a glove for changing gears in my car. Maybe take my shirt off too.

The point of all this is that I scorn posers.

Get the gloves. Cars have had glove-boxes for a century. Not too sure about the shirt. Is any car fitted with a shirt-box?

DnD Central / Re: Conspiracy Theories

Would just love to see a State trying to seceed over ther because all hell would break loose.

I just couldn't let this go without comment. We have had a successful secession. The Conch Republic pulled this off several years back now. You probably know it as the Florida Keys, but according to them they're the Conch Republic, and where others have failed, they seceded.

I forgive you for this and if anyone asks I will deny that you ever said it.
But just this once.

DnD Central / Re: Wealth Redistribution -- What, if any, is the justification for it?

1. But it is wealth redistribution. The Food Stamps program takes our tax dollars and loads them onto an EBT card for those deemed to qualify for said program.

But, is that legitimate justification for taking wealth & redistributing it to those that 'can' see clear to make do without....read here

Qualification by ever changing political motivations does not, IMHO, justify that.

Do you think otherwise?

I think that any "needs-based" scheme would spawn a huge bureaucracy on needs-assessors, slavering to rip off the system

DnD Central / Re: ...If You Were Wealthy...
I AM wealthy.
I had enough to eat today and will have enough to eat tomorrow. I have warm clothes and my roof doesn't leak.
I have access to DnD.
What more could I want?

DnD Central / Re: ISLAM -- The Religion of Peace?

No medal necessary. Such cartoons were useful in a small way by 1943.

I have a few recollections of that moment in history. In '43 I was six years old and remember going through my neighborhood collecting things for the war effort. I had a wagon that I pulled along in quest of newspapers and empty food cans. I'd tie up the newspapers and crush the cans with my foot. Six years old and a part of the war effort; it made me feel proud.

My brother was three. One day my mother saw him striding around the front yard, slashing savagely with a stick.
"What are you doing?" she asked and his answer stopped her in her tracks.
"Killing Jaaps." he said.

The Lounge / Re: Random Chat
Sixty years ago I mixed pencil shavings with tobacco and told an acquaintance it was marijuana.
He manfully smoked it but was disappointed he got no buzz from it.
I did it because I read about somebody who did the same thing except that  his victim was convinced he  got high.

My grandfather used to smoke tobacco called "Baby's Bottom". Would I lie to you?
