But it stuck out in my memory as an option I don't recall seeing anywhere else.Quote from: Luxor on 2017-10-11, 19:16:32I had a racing game once where It would only run in something roughly the size of a postage stamp on the screen. Ah yes, mid-'90s games also sometimes came with sliders to adjust the size of the game.Quote from: Luxor on 2017-10-12, 12:17:25Quote from: Syav on 2017-10-12, 03:25:07Civilization 3 no longer works and only shows a 'Font error' message. That's a really helpful error report isn't it. Somewhat, but at least you know it's font-related!

I came to the conclusion that it just didn't like my graphic card for some reason.
Re: Random Chat Reply #1752 – 2017-10-12, 21:07:19 Over in LA, they're going along with the whole Blade Runner thing.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIKsktVFRCk(There are more.)
Re: Random Chat Reply #1753 – 2017-10-13, 12:11:37 Weird video. Never having seen Blade Runner I'm not sure what the relevance is though.
Re: Random Chat Reply #1754 – 2017-10-16, 11:36:05 In Blade Runner LA is all Japan-ified. Maybe there's no connection.

Re: Random Chat Reply #1756 – 2017-10-27, 16:09:08 First day of snow here. Wet and blowing snow, not a pleasant one. Got to work and my boss said, "Want the day off? " I said okay!

I would probably reply to the boss, "Depends." Always a good answer.Wait, you are saying that you got a day off because of the snow? If this applied here, I should be free for about four months per year. 2 Likes

Re: Random Chat Reply #1763 – 2017-11-02, 22:47:17 Well, I mean if you have chicken stock with actual soup ingredients (leek, onion, carrot, etc.).

Re: Random Chat Reply #1768 – 2017-11-04, 07:31:45 A couple of hours? Weird, it's "just" around an hour in my experience.

Re: Random Chat Reply #1771 – 2017-11-07, 11:36:00 Amazon offered me free expedited shipping so stuff would get here by Wednesday, instead of regular shipping which would get here by Thursday or Friday.I opted to ignore their offer (even though it didn't come attached with a trial month of Prime and stuff like that) and the package, shipped from the warehouse in France yesterday, arrived a few hours ago.Are they too efficient for their own good? Not exactly, because unless something has to be back-ordered every company has 24h-48h shipping. Usually it's 48h for Amazon due to coming from slightly more remote warehouses like southern France or southern Germany, but in this case it happened to be from northern France. But I think Amazon's the only one with this idea of charging extra for the norm.
Re: Random Chat Reply #1772 – 2017-11-07, 13:46:35 The one thing that annoys me with Amazon is they always try to push Prime every time I place an order. How many times do I need to decline it before they take the hint.
Re: Random Chat Reply #1773 – 2017-11-07, 14:32:36 As a rule of thumb I try to avoid Amazon in favor of European businesses, but in cases where it's 10+% cheaper than the competition (like in this case) I tend to give in. I trust that European governments will protect Amazon's workers from its business practices even if Jeff Bezos walks away with the profits. Even then it's still very important to check different Amazonia, mainly .de and .fr[1], but occasionally also .co.uk, .it and .es.It's not just Amazon doing that. For European companies you're also a thief of your own wallet if you don't at least quickly check out their Dutch, Belgian, German and French online presences. I assume the situation is similar across the EU.1 12% cheaper in this case.↵
