DnD Central / Re: The Awesomesauce with Religion
Dioceses are basically a head-tax extortion racket.
Wrong. Dioceses are simply the Holy Church territorial units, created by the Pope all over the world and are administrate necessarily by a Bishop.
Very important dioceses will be called archdioceses.
Just that.

As for the financial administration, I'm not sure but I think that those Bishops will report to the Cardinals they are hierarchically subjected and the Cardinals will report directly to the Vatican's financial institution. In fact many dioceses at poor countries are very very poor and the social work needs to be financed by other dioceses or by the Vatican directly.

Et voilá. No secrets à lá Dan Brown. :wine:

Catholic dioceses all over the world do more work helping human beings than most state institutions ever do, that you can be sure.
So it's really strange when I see people rejoicing because catholic institutions are facing financial difficulties.

As for American things specifically, they are totally out of comprehension. No comments.

DnD Central / Re: The world in 2030
The ecological goals, those that actually make up sustainable development. Those in front view in the table are mostly socio-economic goals, more to do with quality of life for humans, less to do with sustainability.
Exactly. I would be more effective if those two areas were separated: focus in achieving one first, the other after it.

Anyway, I prefer the ethics of permaculture: Earth care, People care and Share the surplus, achieved by aplying the twelve permaculture's principles.

Interesting goals. Maybe the world can achieve all of them by 3030.
That's a one thousand years project. Brutal  :)

More seriously, I think those goals mixes different things that would be much more effective if weren't mixed, so advancing could be faster. Dynamic generates more dynamic and that what it's needed to change the entire world.

DnD Central / Re: NATO nonsense
If there were a US/EU divorce, NATO would still exist as a (likely French-dominated) European army.
With that divorce there will be no American funding anymore and what's NATO without American funding? Not much more than Legion Étrangère.

In my opinion, Turkey was always a wrong inclusion in NATO
I disagree, in my opinion it is extremely important that NATO supports an Islamic country ( I don't know if they still have the secular regime Ata Turk has founded).
The mistake was Europe to rely so much in the USA for defense but it had no other option after WWII. It had plenty of time to change it and did nothing.

As for the EU, I think Turkey should have a privileged status of relationship, not a full right membership.

DnD Central / Re: Time boaters stopped getting into the UK - a farce
Are those Fox News images true? Unbelievable.
I had already heard that Fox channel was tendentious but never imagined it to be like this.

The North Korean lady is an artist, she has a sense of operatic staging that is not common to watch in the western tv.

DnD Central / Re: Why do we constantly need news??
Simple answer: course we don't.
The same way we don't need any of the things people are constantly pushed to buy.

I suppose that we are still allowed to ask why but it will not be for long. To justify it's considered something of the past at the post modernist consumerist society. Reasons are no good for the simple-minded.

Conform. Consume. Obey.  :alien:

DnD Central / Re: Black lives matter has a farce about it
the propensity to violence exhibited by American police
Maybe they're trained that way. Maybe not acting that way is interpreted as a mediocre performance so they don't get promoted, that kind of thing,  I don't know.

I've never been at the States but I lived a few years in South America and they are an incredible violent society judging by European standards. I see no reason for their Northern neighbors to be different.

I hear that Canada seems to be much more European like. Probably virtues of speaking French.
