Title: Revised release schedule
Post by: Emdek on 2014-12-29, 19:07:55
Here is new release schedule, note that some of items could be delayed or done earlier, but hopefully almost all of them will make it to 1.0 (except these marked as Later), maybe even at least few smaller or bigger not mentioned on that list.
The biggest item (and one of most important ones) is custom tab bar, which may take more effort than stuff like QtWebEngine backend.
1.0 would happen almost exactly two years after otter.pro was created. ;-)
There would be two RC releases for 1.0 which would live in own branch after tagging beta 6, one and two weeks before 1.0, replacing weeklies (as it will occur each Monday).

0.9.05 - beta 5 (01.03.2015):

0.9.06 - beta 6 (01.05.2015):

1.0.01 - first stable release (01.06.2015):

Later:

Doest "start page" mean speed dial?

And what does "helper for mouse gestures" mean? The visual dross like Opera created at some point? (I wish it would mean a configuration dialog and the corresponding ini file.)

@ersi, yes, it is speed dial.
Configuration UI for gestures will come separately (it is one of these features not on the list) and that entry means that round visual helper, with some extra stuff to be announced when ready.
Gestures already have own configuration file but its format is not stable yet.

@ersi, yes, it is speed dial.

Fantastic :) Will you borrow it from Qupzilla? (It's better in Qupzilla than in Midori, in my opinion.)

And how about a bookmarks toolbar?

...that entry means that round visual helper...

With the option to turn it off, right?

Best start for 2015.
Cheers,

@ersi, I prefer to borrow ideas over borrowing code (designing stuff usually takes far more time than implementing). ;-)
Also note that QupZilla focuses on single engine, so in many cases it wouldn't be easy for generic stuff (and in our case it has to be generic one, to be shared by backends).

David had no plan to use webkit2, so qupzilla is outdate, and Arora.

Whichever works better. Just saying that Qupzilla's speeddial looks better than Midori's, and Rekonq's looks worst.
