DnD Central / Re: The Pope is now breaking tradition and supporting queerdom!
He’s supporting civil unions. Not recognizing gay marriage. Not sure why you are fretting over that.

Given that your Kirk allows women as Reverends, seems a bit hypocritical on your part Mr. Howie. The Bible and Paul are very clear on a woman’s place in the church after all.

DnD Central / Re: The Awesomesauce with Religion
What little respect I had for Evangelical Christians was washed away the past 4 years with the way they have elevated Trump to the level of, or just below, YHWH.

There is currently a trending post on Facebook from that bunch saying “It took Jesus 3 days to perform a miracle too 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸  “

Seems very sacrilegious to me. But then again, these same ppl are voting for Trump regardless of the fact he paid for his mistresses to have abortions (that topic is #1 in Mississippi) the 3-5 rape allegations, emoluments clause violations, etc, etc.

DnD Central / Re: Islamist head shaking stuff
Muslims do not like it, but the fact of the matter is, their religion was founded by an illiterate pedophile. That such an entity is revered by billions of ppl is, to quote Howie, “head-shaking”.

It’s almost as strange as Scientology.

Not to mention Christianity with it’s fascinating tales of a deity sacrificing itself (“Father”) to itself (“Son”) to forgive the mere humans it created for “sinning” against itself (Trinitarian Theory makes no sense.).

But in closing, I fully support America’s oldest Ally when they print cartoons of the notorious pedophile. If they don’t want to see it, no one is making them look at Charlie Hebdo. They can damn well bugger off with their attempted imposition of blasphemy laws in Europe and the rest of Western Europe.

DnD Central / Re: President election - candidate sticking nose in British things
Not 51st because I noted Puerto Rico voted in favor of statehood today.
They've done so before.
True, but the political landscape is very different today. 2 additional Senators, likely Democrats, would be a boon for President-elect Biden.

Howie I’ve got terrible news for you. Much like we states under the federal gov’t, in the coming 5-10 years, the UK will become subservient to the US federal govt. This was self-inflicted by Brexit. It could have been avoided.

Have no fear, we will still allow our 52nd, 53rd, 54th, and 55th (assuming N. Ireland doesn’t reunite with the RoI) states maintain a mirage of independence. Not 51st because I noted Puerto Rico voted in favor of statehood today.

Other than Defense, International relations, and the NHS (😢) you all will be able to do as you please. CANZUK will not save you, they do as we suggest.

As Churchill once said, “ Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” You all allowed the Tories to lead you to ruin, and the bill is coming due.

All the best Mr. Howie. I hate to see such a proud nation have to come to us with bowler hat in hand on bended knee asking for us to save you, but it is what it is. 😞

DnD Central / UK trade deal with the US under a Biden Administration
Just wanted to let @Luxor and @rjhowie know, I’ll accept Johnny Walker and Irn Bru (or Diet Irn Bru)  bribes in order to move you lot to the front of the queue with Joe in terms of priorities. Fairly certain @Macallan wouldn’t turn down those bribes either.

DnD Central / Re: British doctor dismisses the virus panic situation
On a lower dashed note my barber is normally shut on a Monday but when the government came out with the mass shutung stuff to come out on the Tuesday that was me stuck. Iam really groaning now! :headbang:
Just finished watching the movie Tinker, Tailor, Spy, and heard this song. The “what shall I do??” part seems appropriate for you Mr. Howie.

DnD Central / Re: Everything Trump…
OVER 200,000 SIGN PETITION CALLING FOR END TO LIVE COVERAGE OF TRUMP'S CORONAVIRUS BRIEFINGS

"President Trump is blatantly using the news organizations' extensive, live coverage to freely campaign for a second term," the petition claims. "It is wrong and dangerous to provide so much unfettered airtime to someone who is happily, shamelessly spreading terrible, damaging misinformation that is already costing fellow Americans their lives."

Rather than broadcasting live coverage of the White House's COVID-19 briefings, the MoveOn petition asks broadcasters to monitor the briefings instead "and have your anchors and correspondents quickly share appropriately edited valuable accurate parts."

The "valuable accurate parts," the petition states would be the statements coming "from medical experts."

I’d have no problem with that. He routinely dismisses the views of his medical experts. All he wants is media expose, the degenerate.

DnD Central / Re: Hats, ties vanishing, sloppiness becoming a standard
I bought a Fedora in London back in 2018. From time to time, I’ll wear it. Oftentimes I will get questioned by coworkers if I’m trying to show how cultured I am what with having studied in the UK, when I wear it to work from time to time. Highly amusing for me.

Normally I’ll just wear my standard Ole Miss Colonel Rebel cap to antagonize the Alabama and MS State fans here in Oxford.

Diet Irn Bru? Heavens a Yank getting something right?! I stand by my view that beards are a sign of weakness in personality and such wearers think it makes them seem mature males. A load of cobblers of course. Ensure I wear a tie daily, shave and re the outside situation have a neat cap with an extension on the front as added weather protection - apart from the marching season when of course I have a bowler hat.  8)
You forget, I’ve been to the UK several times now. As a matter of fact, some relatives got back from the UK 3 weeks ago and brought back a favorite British delicacy of mine; Jaffa Cakes!

Haven’t had an Irn Bru in two years. Must do so again when I journey back over there after this madness has passed. Scotland, Belgium and Germany are on my list next go ‘round.
Ireland too if I have the time.

DnD Central / Re: If the Confederates had won.....!
I’d dread to imagine how this region would have responded to COVID-19 in the scenario presented by RJ.

No doubt they’d say “Pray about it” and that’s it.

I prefer a short, well-trimmed beard. Most unfortunately, I’ve recently had to shave it so that the N95 mask I wear at work will operate properly.

Also the thought of our dear resident Unionist Scot dressing  up in a suit and tie to have a supper of beans on toast is highly amusing. Lol

No doubt he has an aperitif’ of Diet Irn Bru beforehand.

DnD Central / Re: What's Going on in the Americas?
According to the incumbent squatter in the White House, he’s embracing a degree of socialism and will be sending out a $1000 check to every American over 18 in the mail in the next month.

* goes to check outside for swarms of locusts and flying pigs

DnD Central / Re: God Save the Governor!
To anyone apart from the body swerving of the Brigadoon an added debt by the SNP is the farce over 2 ferries that were being built and a fight over the cost. They are both sitting in  yard in a poor and rusting state so another two failings to be added to that Nationalist list of nonsense. Then of course that 24 million being dished out for people on their periods yet we know city councils are going to shove up their Council taxes. At no point have I concocted any made up mess by the Nationalist nonsense what they do is ignore the hard truths and before I forget the Scottish Chief of Police has now publicly intimated that he may require to reduce the size of the police which only goes along with my list of mess ups from a crowd of my fellow Sots who are being daft.
How will the Orange Order be voting when the next vote comes around?

DnD Central / Re: Strange action at a preacher
A man who is an American preacher and his late father for decades had been a famous one himself was banned from a small group of public halls in England and up here in Glasgow. He had said once that homosexuality was a "sin." Kind of head shaking when one considers that the Church of Rome with churches everywhere is in the same view as are the Muslims with their places all over the country. They don't get "shut."
You are talking about Franklin Graham. I have no respect for that man.

His father, Billy Graham, I respected; disagreed with but did respect. BG never endorsed candidates whereas Franklin mixes Dominionism in with Republican politics regularly.
