Forum Administration / Otters versus Badgers
So...
We've got a "Ping"??? Now you know what I think?
It's ok there are certain guys to have come ... And what?
We, badgers, seem to hang out in our lovely 'Lounge' and "Central", sometimes taking a dump in the feedback or something... The new guys seem to kick their own issues somewhere in the "Ping" -- and then what? As if we're here - but not here? Separate sites?
So... Do you think otters and badgers can have something to discuss together or what? Or do they need a special invitation?;) Would you invite them?:) Myself seem doing it already

Halloo! Otter guys! Where are you!
We seem to lack your opinions on Gods, Obamas and other stuff, ahoy!?:)
:D

DnD Central / Just In from CNN :)
Drop here anything that worth noticing though doesn't fit into the "bad" or "good" category.
Not restricted to that mentioned in the title, unless you know :)

Browsers & Technology / Hot Potato
Something funny?

Just been on a movies site, during that contrived a supper...
Funny or not, but peeling a hot potato, it broke and part of it rolled across my keyboard - starting with the touchpad.
I don't know what Opera thought about it, but it loaded a coupla dozen incomplete pages from that site...
Does anybody know the shortcut for hot potato or have a story which is more funny than this?:)

Browsers & Technology / Where do the goats live?
I have three browsers (IE doesn't count), and the four media players listed in the poll.
Some time ago, Chrome seemed to be the best solution to browse the Web and watch videos. But it's changed.
In the other browsers (O & Ff) videos perform smoothly. But in Chrome, they don't usually break or lag but the picture gets fractured - as if I see only part of the shots in the continuity.
As to YouTube, now the sound - which very often "goats" - means it's breaking (all the continuity is present, but it breaks so that the timing is also wrong). But when the video frame (the screen) is out of view (scrolled out of the pane, or the tab changed, or whatever), the sound and all are normal.
I think it's related that other players' playback gets similarly corrupted sometimes - seems only with Google Chrome being used to browse. Maybe it's certain sites (with their content), but sometimes even scrolling through normal pages gets the same issue with - usualy it's Foobar or RealPlayer running a radio.
Additional thing is that my Windows 'browsing' quite often gets troubled in some ways (delays & such), so it may be that something on my machine is also involved?
Or what about the hardware? Or certain drivers?
Still to reiterate: not other browsers but Chrome to notice that.

Hobbies & Entertainment / Scottish Radio
Why do I like it?
There are some good stations across the UK (and Dependencies), but they are proportially few to the amount of such in Scotland.
Yesterday, I kept running Bute FM; now it's Central FM (Falkirk)..
The percentage of bad stations in Scotland seems to be even lower than that of good stations elsewhere (in the UK&Co.).
What's the culprit? Is it the language? Music?
What do you love about Scottish culture (apart from RJHowie!)?

Forum Administration / Smilies
Testing and some initial info are here. Here's the general feedback.

Frans, what if to return the default smilies, BUT to add an "unfold link" like "More smilies", where to keep those "new" ones? Anyway they take quite much space on an edit page.
Is it feasible?

Forum Administration / Do we need some Purge?
As of MEMBERS, we actually have only 47 of them - or less.
The counter also counts a "Test", and a couple of suq popettes.
As of that "Test", Frans?
As of the soup casquettes... Well, should we have a policy about that? What do you think?
Unless it's absolutely necessary, why create multiple accounts here? For fun?
Jim, you're free to use your primary one... Who else?..

Forum Administration / Quoting tools
Well, I really hope the "experimental" quote has now been settled down. I myself use it for multiple quoting from all over the page (if needed) - before getting to the "Quick reply" area.
But you know what? For the LAST hit to the answer I use (have by right about now) the other one -- which was initially called "Quote (selected)". It worked either way - either without any selection -- getting that paticular entire post quoted --- or - when a piece is selected -- quoting that piece. And they both have been a pair of good partners in easy quoting for users.
Now what?

Hobbies & Entertainment / What's your entertainment?:D
How do you prefer to entertain yourself?
Is it music, yummy food or just an amount of it? Physical activities? Chemical activities? ???
As it goes, some van pilot here seems to like building vehicle models and then piloting them too;) It is called "hobby", eh?;)
Or maybe some prefer lying on a sofa and doing nothing (don't forget breathing, dude!)?
Watching movies? Talking with your folks? any-all strangers?
Playing games? Which ones?

I hit "new topic", but you know what? This site allows to add a poll later, so you see -- don't mind piling up all sorts of having pleasure imaginable - not only those you're keen on, ok?:)
Let's play! After anything's hardly coming up, I'll hit a pole.

Browsers & Technology / Browsing devices
Well, I like doing things from the basics, so now I humbly present this thread, which can be used to discuss our VERY HARDware in general:)

Forum Administration / Kindergarten
On MyOpera, you didn't think about staying on topic - THE ADULTS thought for you, cleaning the threads.
Now we have a situation when as if adults are just buddies of yours. So you need to stop playing children and fucking graduate your kindergarten and assume responsibilities.
I know, you have responsibilities in your offline, real life, and come here to chillax etc.
Still...

Forum Administration / Are we sick?
The "medical" bots are changing their tactics, aren't they? The last "guy" has tried to disguise itself from that particular "specialty" which has so far indicated "die, droid!", but it's still visible of the link hover.
Are we sick or what? And if we are, why aren't those "doctors" trying to "treat" us?
And why don't we have any other "fields" influx? Surgeons? Proctologists?:)

Forum Administration / Future forum Structure Drafts
String wants a new board. But I suggest we'd better think about the Forum's structure rather fundamentally.

For a start, Draft 1

  • DnD Politics

  • DnD Entertainment

  • DnDigital Technology

  • Forum's Feedback

  • The Lounge

  • Word Games
or something
[/list]It's just to outline some possibilities - not a working scheme yet.

DnD Central / Natural Disasters
This winter (January-February 2014) one such occasion troubles people in Somerset, East Anglia.
Do you imagine a hacking rain amidst the winter, when people's homes get drowned or so? Well, I haven't heard of any multiple casualties, though, but it seems I, for one, wouldn't enjoy waddling through the pond resulted out of my hometown. In damn winter. Happy Year!.. Nice...

DnD Central / Maps-Maps-Maps! ?
Who knows a decent map service on the Web? Except for Google's and alike, I mean.
For example, I wanted to find some physical maps of the UK's regions. One recent guy gave me errors instead of pages...
In one of other threads I shared some www.justmaps.org.  But its helpfulness seems rather limited to finding towns (within countries or otherwise larger regions; it looks simpler than using Google-like zoomables).
So what do you know? ???

Browsers & Technology / FireFox plug-ins
Whea.. I had a trouble with Java and eventually got onto my Ff 3.6.6.
So, "verifying Java", a prompt emerged and I got to "outdated plugins". There were three of them, two of which at least mentioned Firefox as their... How to say?
And also there was one named "Shockwave for Director", which didn't mention Ff but some Netscape or something instead...
Well, people, how to establish relevance to the browser? Or does the Ff browser always know better what's needed while myself should better shut up and load what's said??? ???
47
Browsers & Technology / "Voice From The Vault" advertising
---Sometimes...
How does it emerge? Are they script-blabla on the page?
How to catch the Zombi? Are there ways to block or minimise such stuff? Or so that the browser would point you out at the source?
Can one 'manually' find them on the page?
48
The Lounge / What's your morning?
I can't help it without coffee (pooping and other stuff is let alone:sst:). Today I thought - what if somebody brought it to me in the bed?  :D
49
The Lounge / What's your media?
What? Well, it's all about brain-hunger or sompm. Are you hungry for music? news? chattachattachat? Maybe some new pictures to hang your mind on?:))
Or perhaps you just need the beeps to set your watch right?:D

DnD Central / Static Poll 3 ("Internet connection")
I've skipped that "Run the poll for:" thing, and decided to make the 3rd test poll with users changing their votes. So use it.

This thread is temporary. Consider it.

Note: testing some smilies in the poll...
