And being out of Europe will drop the income and the EU dish outs to places like poor Portugal. You cannot exist without the handouts from others. Time to shake one's head. Even with the begging bowl you aren't improving.

Federal control is so beneficial! :)

Had we states again, it might be better?
oh yeah, it's not the all Federal government that did this anyway. Google up Project Neon. It's the feds but also the state and Las Vegas. The claim is reduced commuter times. But meanwhile it makes the freeway all but impassable.

I waited until those who knew him better… Jerry Doyle died a few days ago. I'll miss him.

The king Bhumibol Adulyadej and the playwright Dario Fo have died.

And Bob Dylan got the Nobel Prize in literature.

Therese Johaug caught for doping

In 2011, Estonian skier Veerpalu was accused of doping. Veerpalu got a 3 year ban. Smigun has been inconclusively implicated twice. Both Veerpalu and Smigun are retired now. Professional skiing in Estonia is at near standstill.

In 2001, Lahti, popular Finnish skier Jari Isometsä was busted. A sweeping purge followed among all Finnish skiers. They have still not properly recovered.

Meanwhile also Russian skiers and other sportsfolks have been caught and banned, and Norwegians were able to rule a number of seasons without challenge. Now it's the turn of Norwegians, looks like.

I've frequently heard that the U.S. population is "browning"… That doesn't scare  me; I was raised to ignore skin-color.

But there's a problem coming up, if the "experts" are right: Should the world's population become majority-brown, and we still seem to be going to Hell in a hand-basket… Who's to blame?
"Whitey" will, eventually, subside; his influence will be -if not forgotten- then surely "over-come"! When the last "pure-bred" white man is gone, who ya gonna blame?
Ya'll gonna hafta learn a lotta stuff!

Look at Equitorial Africa, which has managed to learn next to nothing in the last three hundred years!

Hm. That's the accomplishment that will bring good government, decent education and sustainable agriculture…? Who woulda thunk it!
Nowadays, Marxism and Islam are the main reasons for the deplorable state of sub-saharan countries… (We won't mention ancient tribal animosities.)

I would say Oakdale that the Equatorial and similar areas have a built-in natural weakness.

Equatorial Africa is predominantly Christian, as is Southern Africa. Northern Africa on the other hand is almost exclusively Muslim. There are still som Marxist holdouts, but most went in the aftermath of the Cold War.

For your blanket statements, are there any countries in particular you were thinking of?

We have too many Apple users here.

You dont like Mac users, ersi? Even since Apple switched to Intel processors? I suspect you just don't like people who share your prejudices! (That doesn't make you unusual or anything special, by the way.)

But have no fear: Most "machines" nowadays are powered by RISK chips made in -for now!- GB. (But "invented" at the University of California, Berkley…) It's a global economy; but some will always come out on top.)

The processors are irrelevant. Apple fans have their inimitable Appleworld prejudices. Where Apple fans congregate, the prejudices will become manifest rather sooner than later. For now we survive okay, but I believe we are at a critical point.

I always wanted my own PDP 7… But, truth be told, I'll use any computer that's handy (nearby…). I still miss my 6809 8-bit Microware OS9 system!
Is it UNIX that offends you? (I doubt it…) Perhaps it's the expense! :) I haven't bought a "new" computer since the 80's…

No. It's the prejudices, the mindset of Mac users. Just look at you two prominent Applers talking stuff that can matter only in your own world and ignore stuff that matters universally.

Have passingly regarded Apple Mac users as slightly leaning to the nose in the air corner.  The products are also a ridiculous price but folk go out and buy them as they sometimes see themselves as a select group rather than a conned one.

I don't care: The rolls I treasure come from more than a hundred years ago…

I don't care that others use Windows machines, either. I'm just tired of them asking me to help them when their systems fail… (I like Macs and can figure out what's gone wrong, when things go wrong, on such systems. When I have to "fix" Windows systems, I know that I'm placating "regular" consumers! People who will never have a clue… I can usually fix their problem; but I can't make their operating system rational.)
Of course, some people prefer other versions of UNIX. I understand that too. But most "users" won't or can't.
