You get in touch with your inner balance artist this way.
Or fall a lot, as I do!! LOL I really hate ice. Snow I love but ice? Nope. Most of our snow and ice will be gone by tomorrow - heading for a week of above zero temperatures. Ugh. Back to ugly brown winter.
We had a blizzard yesterday - about 40 cm of snow and -12 C most of the day with wind chill of -30.
I have always found wind chill temperatures to be of dubious value, especially in winter weather. Wind chill is supposed to indicate temperature on naked skin, and you will not see a lot of skin in a blizzard. It is somewhat relevant if wearing a wind-permeable outer layer of clothing, but no sane person does that either.
Well, to us, windchill is an indication that, even though it might only be X temperature, it's freezing out there on your face, which is always exposed to the weather. It also can be so cold in the windchill that frostbite is an issue but not very often. It's rare for it to go below -10 here for any length of time.
Er-- ahhhh--- If you could see some of the stuff I see, you'd wonder how some of these folk-- including "professional" truck drivers-- ever got drivers licenses. When you get passed on a snow and black-ice covered road by an 18-wheeler who is trying to do the posted speed when maintaining forward motion is driving too fast for conditions, you just know that they're giving out driver's licenses a little too easily. Frightening thought: that driver may be licensed to be able to conceal-carry as well.
Please don't tar all truck drivers with the same brush. My husband drives truck and NEVER drives too fast for conditions - it's insane to do so with an 18 wheeler and those who do earn scorn and disgust from good truck drivers as well. If the weather is really poor, he won't drive at all. Period. Some truck drivers are exemplary and deserve respect - same with some car drivers.
Blame the schools who give those poor drivers truck driving licenses. There used to be one here who gave out truck driving licenses to drivers who could NOT back up with a 53 foot trailer in tow. It is now, thankfully, out of business due to complaints.
Guns do not make a nation safer, say US doctors who have compared the rate of firearms-related deaths in countries where many people own guns with the death rate in countries where gun ownership is rare.[/quote]
It's like this . . . If you ensure that everyone has a telephone then the number of telephone calls will increase, if you ensure that everyone has drugs then drug use will go up, if thou let everyone have guns then ...... well it's obvious is it not!
Aha!!! I found a script that changed the background colour to a colour I don't want but now I can edit that script and make it the colour I want.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: It changed web pages and colour schemes so much so that it made some pages unusable. Maybe someone will write an extension for Opera that changes just what the previous one did, however that worked. Thank you for your help, though.
Months? Hm, interesting. It does take the brain/body a while to adjust to such things of course.
Well, it's been documented that THC "Some THC metabolites have an elimination half-life of 20 hours. However, some are stored in body fat and have a elimination half-life of 10 to 13 days. Most researchers agree that urine tests for marijuana can detect the presence of the drug in the body for up to 13 days."
This person had been a very heavy marijuana user for years and was only 23 years old at the time of the change so might be considered a teen or child so maybe that's why the effects were stronger or however you want to qualify it.
I will say that, after awhile, it seemed the effects were completely and totally gone and now that that person only smokes it in small quantities socially, the effects have never come back.
I know it's only anecdotal evidence but, to me, it made a big impact.
One of the main things I loved about Opera was my ability to set the background colour for the entire browser. For me, it was a very light grey because I get horrible headaches and bright screens make them worse.
I have a headache today so opened my old Opera (with all its preferences) to check the difference and immediately it was so much nicer to look at the old Opera.
Does anyone know how I could possibly do this for the new Opera, Opera Next 19?
This is what I had set the old Opera to look like under Tools, Preferences, Webpages,
Normally, this is white, standard for all browsers.
If I could change this, I'd really appreciate it when I have these headaches.
Lowering the brightness is not the same thing so please don't suggest it
Well sure, whether it's alcohol, THC, or just some vitamins, it tends to take more than a night's sleep for something to pass through and out of your system completely.
?
This was a process I watched happen over months, not days, and it took years for this person to become that way -- and months for the effects to slowly start to wear off.
To my knowledge, the latest research says that applies only to adolescents; that is, chronic use during adolescence causes brain damage, but chronic use by adults apparently doesn't do a thing.
That rings a bell so is probably true. I just know that heavy use of just about anything can damage you in one way or another and I do know that heavy use of marijuana does affect your ability to concentrate and keep on track. I saw that firsthand with someone who stopped smoking it all the time. The difference was amazing in their attention span and ability to stay on task.
I'm GMT -4 (Atlantic Standard Time) if that would help? I am not hugely techie but have good common sense and a level head. If you would like any help modding, let me know
I've used Win 7 since it first came out and I love it. It's much better than XP in that it barely ever crashes - in fact, I haven't seen it crash yet, come to think of it.
I find Win 8 is made for tablets and phones, NOT desktops/laptops. I think Win 8 is ridiculous and stupid. I hate touch screen and have no use for touch screen plus you have to learn Windows all over again. I doubt I'll update for years, if ever.
Win 7 runs beautifully on all my computers but I don't have any low end old computers so I really don't know how well it works if you don't have lots of ram. I just know I really like it, I still use it all the time.
I also note Win 7 is very compatible with most hardware and software I've used over the years. I still run Office 2003, for example, as I prefer it. I still use a ton of old programs I've had for years and they run well on Win 7.
I've never noticed Win 7 is slow but, then again, I have pretty new computers so they have lots of capability.
If you don't have a touch screen and don't want to relearn Windows again, I'd stay away from 8 for awhile at least. It might be good for brand new users but, to me, it's just wrong.
I've never tried Linux and I hate Mac/Apple so Win 7 it is for me.
I've said the same thing for years. Thankfully, penalties aren't so harsh in Canada. I'd rather see a bunch of people stoned and happy than raging and fighting because they drank too much. Marijuana also tends to keep people in one place so they'd be less likely to drug and drive, IMHO.
I've known people who use marijuana for social purposes on occasion for years. It's NOT a gateway drug. No one I've ever known has gone on to harder drugs because of weed. Most still smoke weed and are well into their 50s and up. Most only use it occasionally and in small amounts. None of them EVER gets in a fight or has any injury because of weed.
I always thought the war on drugs in the USA was stupid and I still do. How it can be legal to drink yet illegal to smoke week just makes no sense.
Yes, long-term HEAVY use of marijuana can be very harmful as it does damage the brain over time but light, social use is no worse for you than having a couple of drinks occasionally EXCEPT it's hard on the lungs if you smoke it.
If you can, you should eat it
The fact it works on horrendous pain is amazing. I'd much rather see people a bit stoned and out of pain than zonked out of their minds in a stupor from heavy doses of very strong painkillers and then addicted for life.
By the way, marijuana isn't addictive. What's usually addictive is the tobacco people mix it with when they smoke it.
And the money the gov't could make off the stuff if they legalized it would be amazing. It's a win/win unless they made it so it's like the Canadian medical crap which I hear is so weak it's useless.
I'm noticing there's a ton of geeks on here who are much more knowledgeable than I am. (And geek is not a bad word in my vocabulary, btw) I'm trying to stay where I can hold my own because a ton of discussion is way over my head
Ask them. That's what I do. That's the biggest advantage of D&D, you make part of a group of people that no matter how much we discuss, we are always ready to help each others.
Imagine that those "geeks" are helping me to make my first steps into Linux. That's great
Oh, if I have questions, I certainly will. What I meant was some of the conversations I see, I have no freaking clue what they're going on about so I just move on
