Then this should appeal to you.
Not my quote. What I eat is lots of greens and vegetables (mostly seasonal), some fruit (mostly Granny Smith and seasonal), a bunch of fat (mostly cheese, also nuts, yogurt, olive oil) and the occasional bunch of fish and eggs. Well, and I ate a loaf of bread yesterday. Sourdough, of course.

Quote from: Ban Ki-moon
This Friday, a record number of countries will sign the Paris Agreement on climate change, the historic roadmap for moving to a low-carbon economy and achieving a sustainable future for our planet and its people.

In an overwhelming display of determination to address climate change, representatives of more than 165 countries will take part in the signing ceremony, breaking the record for the number of signatories on the opening day of any international treaty. The previous record was 119, set in 1982.

This level of commitment is remarkable and has exceeded my expectations. It proves once again how international cooperation can deliver for people across the globe.

Pontificating is not quite explaining… :) But I did notice that the Paris "talks" led to nothing more than words of commitment, with nothing backing them.

Hardly good news for the formerly weasel-like-creature, nor for those having projects in the pipeline at CERN.

No. No surprises here… Is it safe to assume that neither of you have daughters? :( (That would be Sang and the Colonel.)

What you see as "good news" saddens me.

This is pretty cool. Old watermills can now be repurposed to generate (small-scale) electricity without the adverse effects of dams.

Yours for about €6000. If I lived next to a stream without any intent to move within ten years or so, I'd consider it. English propaganda here.

It was annouced today that between 06:45 07 May and 17:45 11 May, the energy consumption of Portugal was entirely assured by renewable sources of energy. More than four days, a world record. :)

It's funny to realize how four or five days can be so much. Or, in other words, how we are so dependant.
There's stil much more to do.
A matter of attitude.

Another pretty cool electric construction in Belgium is the Coo-Trois-Points Hydroelectric Power Station. In fact it's probably much cooler than a recent startup because it's been around for decades.

This surprisingly old facility (1969) allows for the storage of power, whether generated by traditional (nuclear) power plants or renewable energy sources. Within two minutes it can put an output the equivalent energy to that of the largest nuclear power plants (1200 MW) on the net for a total of six hours. Efficiency is about 75%, meaning about a quarter of the energy is lost pumping the water up for energy storage. A €600 million investment will add a third reservoir in the years to come.

It's funny to realize how four or five days can be so much. Or, in other words, how we are so dependant.
There's stil much more to do.
It's an amazing accomplishment nevertheless.

Grave of Aristotle found in his birthplace in Northern Greece

"Archeologist Kostas Sismanides has devoted 25 years in excavations and research in the area and now brought to light evidence that the grave belongs to Aristotle. Already in 1996 Sismanides had come to the conclusion that the grave in Stagira belonged to Aristotle but keep his excavation and research until he could fully document his findings."
