During 2006–2010, about 2,000 U.S. residents
died each year from weather-related causes of death. About 31% of these deaths
were attributed to exposure to excessive natural heat, heat stroke, sun stroke, or
all; 63% were attributed to exposure to excessive natural cold, hypothermia, or
both; and the remaining 6% were attributed to floods, storms, or lightning.

Well you could do better trying to do something with the 40 million plus US poor living on stamps and the million a year losing homes. Instead a fraction of the stupid sum spent on army nonsense would be better distributed. When you help your own fellow countrymen then you have a right to say something about people elsewhere. You lot in the redneck woods have some kind of fetish about Communists and you really are a laugh being a fan of Sinn Fein who are died in the wool Socialists and neo-Marxists. So I award you three out of three for being  an self unrealised comedian.

Indeed, some of us do: We recognize fellow-travelers, willing dupes and "useful idiots"… :)

Well orange is fine with me dear Oakdale and maybe you could thank me. After all King William 3rd (Prince of Orange) organised the Bill of Rights here when he took the throne and your country got the idea in it's infancy on a Bill from that happening. Please, no need to thank just glad to have been of help! Oh and to show how democracy works we once had a couple of Communist MP's decades ago and no McCarthys!  :)

Hold the presses!

Ted Cruz, senator from Texas, has unofficially announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the presidency in 2016…
Among other things, he "continues to be a leading voice for the health law's repeal [PPACA, aka Obama-care], and promises to abolish the Internal Revenue Service and scrap the Department of Education if elected president."
As someone who was somewhat disappointed with Ronald Reagan's presidency, I am hopeful again.

It's going to be an interesting Silly Season! :)

"...and select Sarah Palin as his running mate."
Good news if you're a Dem. As is this..
"“We reassemble the Reagan coalition. We bring together fiscal conservatives and social conservatives and national security conservatives. We stand strong for economic growth. But we also stand for life and marriage. We defend constitutional rights but we also stand and lead the fight against ISIS and a nuclear Iran.

“The way we get to 51 percent is we bring together conservatives and libertarians and evangelicals, and women and young people and Hispanics and Reagan Democrats."  And rubber duckies and....
open door policies...

Good that you lost your ability to create polls, so I can ignore your list as if it didn't exist.

I have a general dislike of politicians. Still, there are some historically attractive personalities to be found (maybe precisely because they are historical). Such as:

1. Carl Gustaf Mannerheim, the military leader who fought to obtain and preserve the independence of Finland. An indispensable statesman of Finland.

2. Dag Hammarskjöld, Swedish public servant and diplomat, the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

3. Jean-Bertrand Aristide, the first democratically elected President of Haiti, disapproved of and ousted by the United States. A former priest, charismatic idealistic orator.

Would you care to re-state that in English?

Never mind: a few seconds with Google gave me the answer… (I'm sure you still think Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from her porch, too.) The reason most -and you too- think GW was dumb is that he won, twice!
Your mind is perfectly attuned to the telly, RJ. (And you probably don't even know that that's an insult… :) )

Another guy who's got a "tuned to television" mind is the erstwhile Jesuit, zazen student, and current (4th term!) governor of California, Jerry Brown — an always entertaining scion!

(That's his official portrait, from 1984.)
He recently said Sen. Ted Cruz is not qualified to be president, citing what he called his ignorance on climate change.
(Read more:  here…)

Will Jerry Brown admit that his understanding of "climate change" is entirely politicized and based upon fuzzy feel-good environmentalism (…what Rush Limbaugh calls the tenets of EnviroWackos!), and as far from science as -say- an Oreskes, Cook or Lewandowsky proposition!?

Is "Governor Moonbeam" considering reneging on his recent promise to forgo a 4th try to become the Democratic nominee for president?

Who knows? :) But Jerry Brown is interesting! (And —for good or ill, the vicissitudes of genetics being still inscrutable— he has no offspring…)

—————————————————————

An odd note (and one I'm sure will offend some…): I think the Democratic Party is in a similar situation.

I am afraid Oakdale you kind of lost the satirical touch. Just shows how easy it is to get into a rut......

ps. Coming from an ex-colonist waffle about English is an additional unintentional pun.

1. The Republicans won't pick him.
2. That will make Hillary sad.
3. The Republicans would be better off picking...

4. Let the games begin!

They'd probably follow Rotten Ronnie's example by secretly selling them nukes in order to finance a bunch of thugs fighting another government they don't like.

I don't have a "bear pal jimbro."

But I do dislike American politicians...on pols elsewhere, y'all will have to weigh in. I pulled the below from The Washington Post.

Quote
Bill Clinton was paid at least $26 million in speaking fees by companies and organizations that are also major donors to the foundation he created after leaving the White House, according to a Washington Post analysis of public records and foundation data.

The amount, about one-quarter of Clinton’s overall speaking income between 2001 and 2013, demonstrates how closely intertwined Bill and Hillary Clinton’s charitable work has become with their growing personal wealth.

He did beat George H. W. Bush, though, thanks to George H. W. Bush.
